4/27/2016. The most typical question about the car is “what color are you going to paint it?” At first I’d try and explain what I was thinking, but that eventually downgraded to “haven’t decided.” Everybody has their opinion about what color to paint the car, and I don’t want to get into it. That said, there are several things to consider. What colors show off the surfaces and forms the best? What colors would be the most typical of ’60s American road racers? I’m an inexperienced painter, and while I’m going to get the surfaces as good a possible, we aren’t going to paint it black. White is a consideration. But what white? These photos compare GM40 (on my ’89 Turbo Trans Am—very ivory), GM10 (too white for me), and GM Olympic White (to gray). The current white contender is BMW Alpine White.
